Stop Arm Sales to Saudi Arabia – Silent Vigil on the steps of the Friends’ Meeting House – Sunday 15 September, 12:30 – 1:30

Join Manchester and Warrington Area Meeting Peace Promotion Group,  Social Justice Group and Manchester Amnesty International to witness against the arms trade.

We will be holding a silent vigil jointly with Amnesty International – Stop Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia – on the steps of the Friends Meeting House Manchester on

Sunday 15 September from 12.30 to 1.30.

We will be upholding our testimony to peace.

Since the beginning of the war in Yemen, our Government has licensed £4.5 billion of arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

Several months ago the Court of Appeal found that the Government had acted unlawfully in licensing these sales to Saudi Arabia. However the Government have appealed this decision.

According to the UN and other sources, from March 2015 to December 2017, between 8,670–13,600 people were killed in Yemen, including more than 5,200 civilians, as well as estimates of more than 50,000 dead as a result of an ongoing famine due to the war,  many of these being children. Hospitals and civilian areas have been targeted.

If you would like to be part of this action please join us, for the full hour or part of it.
